The two 2.2kW solar tracker systems generate approximately 30% more electricity than a fixed axis system of the same size since the PV panels follow the movement of the sun throughout the day. This system supplements the power requirements of the visitors centre and conference rooms. This system was installed by Solarmetrics and the project was managed by Grey Green.
This project included the installation of the 4kW system as well as retrofitting some of the animal enclosures with solar powered electric fences. The system generates approximately 25kWh’s of electricity per day, which helps to reduce electricity bills as well as reaffirm the environmentally conscious image of the Zoo. The system was designed to meet the energy needs of the Zoo’s education centre.
This system offsets this busy olive farms’ electricity consumption by approximately 40kWh’s per day and, more importantly, also provides an uninterrupted power supply to a dedicated circuit in the offices during times of power cuts. The thirty 250W solar PV panels are ground mounted to our custom frame.
